Pedestrian Hit On Route 83 in Vernon

VERNON, CT — A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle while trying to cross part of Route 83 in Vernon early Tuesday afternoon, fire officials said.

The incident took place at 1:25 p.m. near the intersection of Route 83 and Sunset Terrace, officials said.

Life Star helicopter was initially called, but then canceled. The woman was then transported to Hartford Hospital via ambulance with what authorities called non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and was cooperating with the investigation, authorities said.

Route 83 was closed for some time while the crash was being investigated.
