Rick Heil to perform in Rockville on November 1

Lead singer for popular Christian pop, rock and worship band SONICFLOOd

Jacob's Well Christian Coffeehouse, downtown Rockville's monthly Christian nightclub, will feature an evening of worship led by Rick Heil, lead singer of the popular Christian pop, rock and worship band SONICFLOOd, on Friday, November 1. Doors will open at 7 p.m. and the event will begin at 7:30 p.m inside the beautiful circa 1890 Union Church sanctuary, 3 Elm Street in the historic Rockville section of Vernon. Admission is free.

Heil is an entrepreneur and musician who started singing in church as a child. When he was in middle school, Heil found his father's bass guitar in the attic and immediately fell in love with making music on stringed instruments. He was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 11 and had a difficult time dealing with the pain. When he was 15, he received a 12-string acoustic guitar for Christmas. The next day, when he was admitted to the hospital, he brought his new guitar with him. One of the hospital volunteers started teaching him finger positions for open chords. She had been a hippie and taught him folk songs that were very basic but fun. Music-making became a great way for him to pass the time, and over the years, Heil's calling and career in music flourished.

Heil is coming to Jacob's Well as part of SONICFLOOd's 25th anniversary "One Nation Under God" tour. Some of the group's most popular original songs include Carried Away, Cry Holy, Holiness, I Could Sing of Your Love Forever, I Have Come to Worship, I Want to Know You, In the Secret, Something About That Name, and Open the Eyes of My Heart.
