VERNON, CT — A squatter has been removed from a house in Vernon and is now facing a criminal charge, police said.

Details of the May 25 incident were released this week.

According to an arrest report, police responded to a complaint about a person that had taken up residence at a house on Laurel Street in the Rockville section of town without authorization.

When police arrived at the property, they discovered that a man was indeed living there. The man, classified as being homeless, was taken into custody and charged with second-degree criminal trespass, according to an arrest report.
