Teen With Smudged Fake Temp Plate Charged After Police Pursuit In Vernon: Warrant
A warrant has been served to a 17-year-old who engaged state police in a chase in September.

VERNON, CT — A warrant has been served to a 17-year-old who engaged state police in a chase in September.
The teen has been charged with reckless driving, engaging police in a pursuit, and failure to drive in the proper lane, according to a warrant.
According to a warrant, at 9:17 p.m. on Sept. 3, a state trooper was stationed on Interstate 84 when he saw a dark gray Infiniti, weaving in-and-out of traffic. The car had a fake temporary certificate with smudged ink that was running down the front of it, according to a warrant.

When the driver saw the state police cruiser, he abruptly turned onto the the Exit 64/65 off-ramp and eventually pulled into the Burger King parking lot, according to a warrant. He then tried to exit the lot, but was blocked in by another car backing into a parking space, according to a warrant.
The teen and his two passengers were uncooperative when a trooper approached them in the parking lot and eventually sped off onto Hartford Turnpike. The trooper gave chase, but broke off the pursuit when the Infiniti sped onto the I-84 westbound on-ramp, according to a warrant.

The efforts proved to be fruitless, because the teen was recognized and identified based on body camera review and previous police encounters. He was then tracked down and served a warrant on Dec. 9, according to state police.
