Thursday's Vernon Virus Test Distribution Event Called Off

Supply issues forced Vernon officials to cancel a coronavirus at-home test kit distribution event slated for Thursday.

VERNON, CT — A coronavirus at-home test kit distribution event set for Thursday in Vernon has been called off amid supply issues.

Vernon officials said state officials informed them at 11:44 p.m. that the kits would not be arriving in time from the West Coast.

"We await further information from the state and will inform residents about updated distribution plans as soon as possible," Vernon officials said Thursday morning.

The distribution point was to be at Rockville High School.

The state is providing Vernon with 3,780 test kits.

When the distribution event is rescheduled, priority will be given to people who have an immediate need for testing due to having COVID-19 symptoms or exposure to someone who has COVID-19, officials said.

To receive a test kit, residents will be required will have to show an ID proving residency.
