Tolland County Drive-Up Coffee Business Adding To HuskyTHON Hero's Donations

VERNON, CT — A Vernon drive-up coffee business is honoring a record-setter in the Annual HuskyTHON that benefits Connecticut Children's Medical Center.

The local 7 Brew is commemorating its monthly Hero Program and the 35 Talcottville Road location's donation day is scheduled for Saturday to benefit CCMC.

Every month, 7 Brew nationally selects a "7 Brew Hero," an individual recognized for "cultivating kindness and spreading joy in the community," 7 Brew owners said.

"They go out of their way to make the world a better place," they added. "They are nominated for their kindness and positive impact, with the program honoring a monthly winner who receives $500 and a free year of coffee. Additionally, there is a Hero of the Year award with a $10,000 grand prize."

For the month of May, a "hero" from UConn was selected for work with HuskyTHON, a student-run philanthropy campaign that raises funds and awareness for CCMC, this year to the tune of $2.1 million.

On Saturday, the 7 Brew Vernon location will honor its our month of May 7 Brew Hero, Mikey Mahoney, with a Donation Day for Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. Mahoney history thjis year by raising $120,000 for HuskyTHON — the most by any single student.

On Saturday, 7 Brew will be donating $1 from every large drink purchased to CCMC.
