Vernon Chorale Awarded $5,600 Grant
The Vernon Chorale was one of the 725 organizations in Connecticut to receive a CT Cultural Operating Support Grant.

VERNON, CT — The Vernon Chorale, Inc. was recently awarded a $5,600 CT Cultural Fund Operating Support Grant from CT Humanities. The grant is designed to assist organizations as they recover from the pandemic and maintain and grow their ability to serve their communities and the public.
"With this generous grant, The Vernon Chorale is able to comfortably continue its mission to provide a forum to teach choral singing skills and offer unique concert experiences to the residents of Vernon and surrounding towns," Vernon Chorale President Liz Whiteley said. "This funding will enhance the chorale’s ability to foster young, local choral artists through its Choral Fellowships and continue its Conducting Fellowship program.”
The Choral Fellowship program was on hiatus for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Promoting well-being through choral concerts and supporting young musicians are the chorale's
top priorities.
"The community we serve has come to expect and enjoy the diverse, quality performances we
offer, and our fellowship awards fulfill the crucial educational aspect of our mission,” Whiteley
said.

The Vernon Chorale was one of the 725 organizations in Connecticut to receive a CT Cultural Operating Support Grant. Totaling $8.5 million, the grants are part of a two-year, $30.7 million investment in arts, humanities, and cultural nonprofit organizations by the Connecticut General Assembly and Gov. Ned Lamont. The grant is distributed through the Connecticut Department of Economic and Community Development and the Connecticut Office of the Arts.
The Vernon Chorale, Inc. is a vibrant organization whose objective is to contribute high quality choral music to central and eastern Connecticut on a non-profit basis. Established in 1980 and incorporated in 2002, the chorale has an all-volunteer membership selected by audition from greater Hartford and Tolland County. It includes both trained and amateur musicians. The Vernon Chorale is not only dedicated to the utmost caliber of choral singing and musical excellence, but to cultivating the next generation of young musicians.
