Vernon Police Issue Report On Underage, Drunken Moped Crash
A moped crash in Vernon turned into an underage drunken driving charge, police said.

VERNON, CT — A Vernon police report released this week shows that an unlicensed, drunken 20 year old crashed an unregistered moped on a curvy stretch of road in the middle of the night earlier this month.
The incident took place at 12:31 a.m. on Aug. 16, on Bamforth Road, near the intersection of Bolton Road, police said.
When officers arrived at the scene, they encountered a Manchester man, smelling of alcohol, standing near the crashed moped, according to an arrest report. He had sustained minor injuries, according to an arrest report.

He then failed sobriety tests and was charged with driving under the influence with a blood alcohol level of greater than .02 while younger than 21, according to an arrest report. Additional charges include driving an unregistered motor vehicle, a lane violation, driving without a license and failure to carry the minimum insurance, records show.
