Vernon resident, Hanna Marcus, was named one of twenty plus "Influential Women" by the CT Rivers Council of Scouting America. Noted for their resilience, positive impact on their community, and willingness to serve the needs of others, the women were honored at a brunch at the Hartford Club. Ms. Marcus' books in the "Sidonia's Thread" series, embraced by readers around the world, tell the story of two women, a mother and daughter, who come to America after World War II and build a life based on the mother's masterful talent with a needle and thread, creating stunning designs for customers in her adopted hometown of Springfield, Massachusetts. Marcus is also a clinical social worker and the former Director of Human Services for the Town of Manchester.
