3 Juveniles Charged In Racist Graffiti At Abandoned Building: Wallingford Police

Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with racist and derogatory graffiti that was found inside an abandoned building, police say

WALLINGFORD, CT — Three juveniles have been arrested in connection with racist and derogatory graffiti that was found inside an abandoned building in Wallingford, according to police.

Police were assigned Tuesday to investigate a social media post on the Wallingford CT Community Forum, according to Officer Alex Torres.

Torres said a photo was posted on Monday, March 24 of a graffitied wall inside of an unoccupied building at 50 South Main Street.

“The picture displayed derogatory and racial slurs tagged in red and blue spray paint,” Torres wrote in a news release. “The Wallingford Police Department interviewed multiple individuals who were involved or had knowledge of the incident.”

Torres said three juveniles have been arrested and charged with third-degree burglary and second-degree criminal trespass.

The owner of 50 South Main Street has been “notified and has taken the necessary steps to secure the building,” according to Torres.

Torres said the investigation is ongoing and more arrests are expected.

“The Wallingford Police Department would like to thank the CT State Police Hate Crimes Investigative Unit (HCIU) for their assistance in this investigation,” Torres wrote.
