Driver Killed In Multi-Vehicle Crash On I-91 In Wallingford: State PD
A driver died after striking several trees off the highway after a three-vehicle crash, according to police.
WALLINGFORD, CT — A man died after a three-vehicle crash Monday morning on I-91 South in Wallingford, according to Connecticut State Police.
Police said the crash happened around 6:50 a.m. near Exit 13 on I-91 South.
An investigation found that a 2012 Chevrolet Impala being driven by Manuel Benejan was traveling in the right lane and then veered left into the center lane, striking a 2015 Nissan Altima, according to police.

Police said the Nissan then “entered into a spin” and struck a 2014 Nissan Altima that was in the left lane.
The Chevrolet also went into a spin, and went off the right side of the road and struck several trees, according to police.

Police said Benejan, 53, of Wallingford, was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
The other drivers were injured in the crash, according to police.
The crash remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Patrick Miko at 203-393-4200 or Patrick.Miko@ct.gov. Police are also asking anyone who was driving through the area at the time of the crash and might have dashcam footage to contact them.
