1 Dead In House Fire In Wallingford: Officials

One person died in a house fire early Friday morning in Wallingford, officials said in an update.

WALLINGFORD, CT — One person died in a house fire early Friday morning in Wallingford, officials said in an update.

Crews responded to Clifton Street around 4:30 a.m. on the report of a structure fire.

The first-arriving units reported a working fire with heavy fire conditions on multiple floors of a three-story occupied house, according to a news release.

“Wallingford Fire units Car 4, E1, E2, E3, T1, E7, E8, and Medic 2 were all on the initial response,” officials wrote in the news release. “Mutual aid from North Haven, Meriden, and Hamden responded to the incident scene. Car 1, Car 2, Car 5, and Medic 1 also responded, along with Wallingford PD, Wallingford Electric Division, Wallingford Water Division, and Eversource.

“The main fire was knocked down with initial units, but fire extended throughout the house and was fully under control after about 90 minutes. Fire also extended to the house next door. Wallingford thanks all mutual aid departments for their assistance controlling this fire.”

Officials said one occupant died in the fire. The person’s identity hasn’t been released, pending notification of family, according to officials.

“The Wallingford Fire Marshal Office is on scene to lead the investigation into the cause of the fire, and are assisted on scene by Detectives from Wallingford PD, and the CT Fire and Explosives Investigative Unit,” officials wrote. “Please ensure you have a working smoke alarm, and call 911 immediately if you observe a smoke or fire.”
