Obituary: Alberto Méndez, 61, formerly of Wallingford
Alberto, a devoted family man, worked in the maintenance department for Joseph Cohn & Son of North Haven for many years.
WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Washington Memorial Funeral Home) Alberto Méndez, 61, of Meriden died peacefully on Monday, December 27, 2021 at Sheriden Woods in Bristol with his loving family by his side.
He was the beloved husband of Daisy Colón Méndez. Alberto was born in Naguabo, Puerto Rico on July 30, 1960, a son of Victor Méndez of Naguabo and the late Julia Gerena.
He had resided in Meriden for the past 15 years, previously in Wallingford for six years, and before that had resided in New Haven for most of his life.
Alberto worked in the maintenance department for Joseph Cohn & Son of North Haven for 15 years until 2014.
In addition to his wife and father, Alberto is survived by a son, Alberto Méndez, Jr. and his fiancé Kimberly Williams of Meriden, a granddaughter, Analis Marín of Meriden, four sisters, Leonida Seguí, Elba Dearce and Marisol (Ely) González of New Haven and Julie Apuzzo of Meriden, four brothers, Orlando Méndez of Florida, Edwin (Magda) Méndez of Wallingford, and Victor Méndez, Jr. and Elias (Enid) Méndez of New Haven, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was predeceased by his daughter Ivalis Marín.
Alberto's family will receive relatives and friends on Thursday, December 30th from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Washington Memorial Funeral Home, 4 Washington Ave., North Haven.
A funeral service will take place during visitation time, beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Burial will be private.
