Obituary: Ann M (Francolino) Fischer, 97 of Wallingford
Ann enjoyed a successful career as a devoted passionate nurse. She was an active member of the community and cherished time with family.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Ann M (Francolino) Fischer, 97 of Wallingford, CT, loving wife of the late William R. Fischer, passed away Monday, January 3, 2022 at Masonic Care.
Ann was born on Allen St, New Britain, CT July 6, 1924, the youngest of eight children to Prospero and Carmela (Fillipo) Francolino.
She was predeceased by her 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
After graduating from New Britain High School in 1942, Ann began her studies to become a nurse. She graduated in 1945 with a nursing diploma from New Britain General Hospital.
Following graduation, she worked at New Britain General Hospital, World War II Veterans Memorial Hospital, Gaylord Hospital and various doctors’ offices until 1966.
Then she started as a school nurse in the Wallingford School system with eight of those years spent as the Nurse Coordinator. She was a passionate devoted nurse who wouldn’t retire until age 80 in 2004.
In addition to her years of service to the schools, Ann also taught CPR for the Red Cross and was a board member of the Visiting Nurses Association of Wallingford.
Ann is survived by her 5 children, William and Alice Fischer of Meriden, David and Loraine Fischer of Virginia Beach, VA, Marianne Fischer and Burt Faulkner of Methuen, MA, Diana (Fischer) and Terris Reddick of Boston, MA and Harold and Helaine Fischer of Ridgefield, CT.
She has 12 grandchildren, Jonathan, Marc, Elizabeth, Sarah, Amber, Eliza, Carmen, Terris, Marianna, Zachary, Ari and Jordan; 3 great grandchildren Kayla, Hayden and Taylor.
She is also survived by her dear sister-in-law Martha as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Until Ann’s last day on this Earth, she was devoted to helping loved ones all around.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, cousin, friend and caregiver who will be fondly remembered for her amazing spirit.
She loved playing bridge, talking with her friends, cooking prize-winning meatballs, sheet apple pie and lemon meringue pie. There wasn’t a choir she wouldn’t join.
She spent years as a member of the Holy Trinity Church Choir, Church of Resurrection and most recently the Masonic Choir where at the age of 95, she even learned a new skill joining the bell choir. She never stopped learning and embracing life.
She will be missed by her family and friends, old and new. She never stopped making friends including her friends at the Johnson Apartments.
The Fischer family would like to thank the staff at Masonic Health Care on Ramage 4th floor and the Hospice Care Team for their caring support for Ann and our family in her final days.
On Sunday January 9, 2022 from 2-4 PM the Fischer family will receive relatives and friends at the Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext. Wallingford,
On Monday January 10, 2022 at 10 AM please meet directly at the Church of the Resurrection, 115 Pond Hill Road, Wallingford where the Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. The burial will be private.
As Ann was devoted to her religion, in lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory may be sent to the Church of the Resurrection.
