Obituary: Anthony Gerard Casciano, 84, of Wallingford
Anthony, lovingly referred to as "Poppy" and "Casey", worked many years for Pratt and Whitney and was known by many and loved by all.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Anthony Gerard Casciano ("Poppy," "Casey") passed away peacefully and surrounded by his family on January 11, 2022 at the age of 84, in Meriden, CT.
Known by many and loved by all, Anthony was born on August 27, 1937 in Scranton, PA to Ralph and Mildred Casciano.
A beloved big brother, best friend, and eldest son, Anthony's time in Scranton was spent as an altar boy and occasional truant until, in 1955, he enlisted in the United States Navy. Anthony was stationed in Key West, FL on the USS Bushnell for 3 years where he was a supply clerk and remained a proud veteran throughout the rest of his life.
On November 8, 1958, Anthony married the love of his life Ann Marie Mitchell, who would faithfully remain by his side for the next six decades and through his final moments.
Together in 1960, Anthony and Ann Marie moved from Scranton to Wallingford, CT, where Anthony worked as a foreman at Pratt and Whitney Aerospace Company. Anthony and Ann Marie raised their four children in Wallingford where he was an avid Sheehan High School sports fan and a fierce advocate for his childrens’ success.
Anthony spent much of his retirement in Inverness, FL where he shuttled his rowdy grandchildren to theme parks and spent ample time sunning himself by the pool.
Anthony was a big Red Sox fan and a member of the Elks Club and The Knights of Columbus. Anthony will be remembered for his deep love of family, vivid storytelling and appreciation for Ann Marie’s spectacular cooking.
His family will especially miss his singing (“down on the farm…”) and his witty aphorisms (“wherever you may be…”).
Anthony is predeceased by his cherished daughter, Patricia, and daughter in law Donna. Anthony is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ann Marie; his 2 sisters, Ann Marie Brady and Sister Bernadette Casciano; his 3 sons and their spouses, Anthony and Cynthia, Daniel and Eleanor, Scott and Christine, and a son in law Martin Maloney; 8 adored grandchildren, Anthony, Gina, Kelly, Derek, Meagan, Daniel, Dylan and Mitchell; 3 beloved step grandchildren Michael, Jessica and Daniel Drohan; 3 precious step great grandchildren Sophie, Liam, and Dennis Drohan; and a brand new great grandson, Declan.
The family would like to thank the nurses, doctors and staff of MidState Medical Center for all their compassionate and professional care.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, January 17th at 10 am directly at Our Lady of Fatima Church, 382 Hope Hill Rd., Yalesville.
Interment will be private in St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family invites you to make a donation to The Parkinson’s Foundation or Our Lady of Fatima Church, Yalesville, CT.
