Obituary: David A. Cooper, 85, formerly of Wallingford

David, loving family man, avid golfer and devoted Dallas Cowboys fan, worked many years as a delivery milkman and for Allegheny Steele Co.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) David A. Cooper, 85, formerly of Wallingford, husband of Nancy (Setterlind) Cooper, passed away January 3, 2022 at Hartford Hospital.

David was born in Cleveland, Ohio on August 17, 1936, a son of the late Edward and Grace (Bartos) Cooper.

David served in the United States Army during 1959 - 1963. Dave, as family and friends knew him, grew up in Medina, Ohio. While serving in the military, he was stationed in New Haven where he met his wife, Nancy.

They married in 1959 and moved to Wallingford in 1963 where they lived for 40 years before retiring to Hudson, Florida in 2000.

During his days in Wallingford, he worked as a home delivery milkman for many years, and eventually retired from Allegheny Steele Co. He was also an avid golfer, and as everyone who knew him was aware, he was a huge Dallas Cowboys fan.

In addition to his wife, Nancy, he is survived by his children, Diane Garesio and her husband, Reggie, of Florida, David S. Cooper and his wife, Debra, of Archer Lodge, NC, Carol Welsh and her husband, Michael, of Glastonbury and Cathy Files and her husband, Jim, of Wethersfield; his grandchildren, Douglas, Brittany, Zachary, Courtney, Matthew, Ariana, Kaitlyn, Amber and Cayla’ and several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Gary, Richard, and Kenneth Cooper.

David’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Thursday, January 13, 2022, from 4 pm until 6:30 pm.
