Obituary: Donald A. Groobert, 88, of Yalesville

Donald served in the U.S. Army, worked for New Departure for 30 years and was a member of the Wallingford Elks 1365.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Donald A. Groobert of Yalesville passed away on February 19, 2021 after a short illness. He was the husband of the late Gertrude G. Groobert.

He was born in Meriden, Ct. on October 27, 1932, the son of the late Katherine E. and Joseph Kindall.

Donald was a life-long member of St. John Lutheran Church and a member of its Sunshine Committee. Donald graduated from Wilcox Tech in 1951, he then enlisted into the United States Army and proudly served our country during the Korean war.

He was employed by New Departure for thirty years before retiring in 1986. He was a member of The Wallingford Elks 1365.

He leaves his good friend, Doris Hall of Meriden; three nieces, Maria Koskovich, Marcia Ortiz and Deirdre Griglack; and several cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Lawrence Groobert.

A visitation will be held at St. John Lutheran Church, 520 Paddock Ave., Meriden on March 3rd at 10:00 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment with military honors will follow in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in Meriden.

At a date to be announced there will be a memorial service at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Yalesville followed by a celebration of Donald's life.
