Obituary: Gregory Ivan Kolton, 76, of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Gregory Ivan Kolton, 76, of Wallingford, loving husband of 48 years to Gail (Bonaldo) Kolton, passed away peacefully Friday, October 15, 2021 at his home with his beloved family by his side.

He was born in Bridgeport, CT on February 19, 1945, son of the late John and Anne (Cuper) Kolton.

He served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged following an illness. He earned his Bachelors of Fine Arts degree from the University of Bridgeport and entered a lifelong career in advertising.

His artistic career spanned over five decades, starting at Plymouth Electric, Stop and Shop and finally retiring from Bozzuto’s of Cheshire, CT after 25 years of service.

Greg was a family man through and through. He loved nothing in life more than his wife, sons and grandsons. A very close runner up, however, would be his vast record collection, Elvis memorabilia, doo wop music, extremely heavy pop culture coffee table books, spaghetti and meatballs, vintage advertising, tag sales, flea markets, the NY Yankees, UConn girls’ basketball and ties. Lots of ties.

In addition to his wife, Gail, he is survived by his loving sons, Jonathan Kolton (Meghan Lee) and Grant Kolton (Nancy), all of Wallingford; his brother, Russell Kolton of Charlestown, RI; his adoring grandsons, Hudson and Jack Kolton; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sister, Tania Ferko and his brother, Adrian Kolton.

Greg’s beloved family will receive family and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 North Main Street Ext. on Friday, October 22, 2021 from 10 am until 12 pm with a service to immediately follow in the funeral home. Interment with military honors will be in St. John Cemetery in Wallingford following the service.
