Obituary: Lois (Foster) Johnson, 93, of Wallingford
Lois was very active in the community and taught world history at Lyman Hall High School for over 30 years.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Lois (Foster) Johnson, 93, of Wallingford, and Westerly, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully in her home on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.
She was the loving wife of the late Charles Johnson.
Lois was born in Providence, Rhode Island on May 13, 1927, the only child of the late Irving and Dorothea (Waters) Foster. She attended Classical High School in Providence where she met the love of her life and husband for almost 70 years, Charles.

Lois received her Bachelor Degree from Bates College and her Masters Degree from Southern Connecticut State University, with degrees in education.
Lois had been a Wallingford resident since 1954, where she taught world history at Lyman Hall High School for over 30 years, retiring as Chairman of the department in 1995.

She was the Key Club Advisor and AFS Intercultural Program Advisor taking students throughout New England and Europe. She enjoyed attending sporting events, especially when her children and grandchildren participated.
Lois was very active in the community, where she was a member of the First Congregational Church. Lois was involved in the Garden Club, AAUW, and Book Club.
She was a descendant of John Howland of the Mayflower and was a member of the Mayflower Society and the Daughters of the American Revolution, bringing opportunities for scholarships to local high school students. Lois would often host children involved in the Fresh Air Fund during the summers.
She also volunteered at the Masonic Home and Wallingford Public Library.
Lois enjoyed going to the beach, reading, gardening and traveling. She and her husband loved to travel all over the world. They were members of Friendship Force and often hosted people from around the world.
They participated in the Wallingford England exchange program many times and made many friends throughout the world. Lois had many special friends and she enjoyed many adventures with them. Cle, Henrietta, Sheila, Sue, and Joan would often get together to play tennis and for bridge games.
Lois will be lovingly remembered by her three daughters Gretchen [Roman] Mrozinski of Wallingford, Jocelyn [Paul] Bruton of Guilford, Pamela [Jesse] Cabrera of Bolton; her 5 grandchildren Ryan, and Jared Mrozinski, Ashley, Kyle, and Christopher Bruton; 4 great grandchildren Charlotte, Beau, Sophia and Elizabeth; her sister-in-law Eleanor [Thomas]Porter of Virginia; her brother-in-law Kenneth [Judy] Johnson of MA; her sister-in-law Joan Johnson of R.I., several nieces, nephews and her loving caregiver, Belinda Huff.
She was predeceased by her brother-in-law Arnold Johnson, nephew Brian Porter, and niece Robin Erwin.
Due to the Coronavirus and in consideration of the well-being of family and friends a Memorial Service will be held at a future date.
