Obituary: Paul McFarlane, 85, of Wallingford

Paul, a devoted family man, loved adventure, the outdoors, skiing, running road races, biking, swimming and birdwatching.

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) Paul McFarlane, 85, of Wallingford, CT loving husband of 59 years of Brenda (Holmes) McFarlane, passed away peacefully, September 19 2021 at MidState Medical Center in Meriden.

He was born in North Andover, MA on October 16, 1936, a son of the late M. Pauline (Snow) Watson and Rev. Frank Watson of Concord, NH and Plum Island, MA.

He served in the United States Army and was a draftsman for Pratt & Whitney for 20 years and then the construction industry for many years until retiring.

Paul was always up for and ready to go on any adventure that came is way. He loved the outdoors. He loved and had a passion for skiing, running road races, biking, swimming and birdwatching.

He relished in his annual ski trip with his brother to Tuckerman’s ravine to ski the bowl every spring. When vacationing in Hawaii he took surfing lessons.

When visiting NYC, Central Park was his 2nd home. Researching all the various species of trees and birds and then seeking out their location. Paul loved the beach and Plus Island MA was where he chose to spend his time

In retirement, traveling became his passion with trips to Italy, Nova Scotia and Germany to name a few.

And then, his love for his family and grandchildren was his buoy. He was a wonderful husband and father, but being a grandfather to Rebekah and Nicole was his greatest joy in life.

In addition to his wife, Brenda, he is survived by his daughter, Maryellen Allegretti of Wall Township, NJ; his sister, Anne Lynch of Florida; and his cherished granddaughters, Rebekah and Nicole.

He was predeceased by his brother, David McFarlane in February, 2021
A celebration of his life will be held on October 2, 2021 from 11 am to 2:00 pm at Hometown Restaurant, 314 Main Street, Wallingford.
