Obituary: William C. Behme Sr., 90, of Wallingford

WALLINGFORD, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) William C. Behme Sr., 90, of Wallingford, died Monday, January 3, 2022, at MidState Medical Center. He was the beloved husband for 45 years of the late Judith E. (Posluszny) Behme.

Bill was born in Montela, NY, December 14, 1931, a son of the late Frederick and Bertha (Clark) Behme and was a U.S. Air Force Veteran of the Korean War.

He worked for many years as foreman at Unimax Switch until opening up Walco Spa Luncheonette with Judy, sharing their love of cooking with all who entered.

In the last 21 years of his career he worked for the Department of Defense at Sikorski Aircraft as a Program Manager, earning a number of commendations for his work. Bill was a member of the Wallingford Elks Lodge, Eagles Club, and the Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by his children, William Behme Jr. and his wife Veronica, Jill Behme Conaway and her husband Robert, James Behme and his wife Michelle, and his son-in-law, Jim Estby; his sister, Kay Behme Hull; his grandchildren, Melissa Osborne, Maggie Behme, Juliana Behme, Liam Behme, Kristina Conaway, Adelaide Conaway, Jacy Conaway, and Alaina Capasso; and his great grandchildren, River and Daisy Walsh, and Bennett Robbins; as well as many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his wife, Judy Behme, daughter Ann Behme Osbourne Estby, sisters Mae Krum and Evelyn Caruso, and loving friend Marilyn Perkowski.

Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends at The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Friday, January 7th, from 4pm to 7pm. A prayer service will be held immediately after in the funeral home.

There will be a private burial at the State Veterans’ Cemetery at a future date. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the Wallingford Senior Center, 238 Washington St., Wallingford, CT 06492.
