Wallingford BOE Mandates Students Maintain C- Average To Play Sports
Wallingford Parent: "I think it's excellent. They go to school for an education, not for sports."

Monday night, the Wallingford Board of Education passed a new policy that requires students to maintain at least a C- average to be able to participate in a school sport.
Before, Wallingford students had to pass every class to play a school sport, according to The Record Journal. For this upcoming school year, students will have to pass every class and maintain at least a C- average to be able to participate in school sports, according to the Journal. Also, students with an incomplete for a course must finish the course and receive a grade before they can be deemed eligible for a sport, according to the newspaper.
Wallingford’s athletic directors recommended the new policy, according to The Record Journal. Many parents interviewed by the Journal agreed with the new mandate.
“I think it’s excellent,” said Wallingford parent Chris Gavin, according to The Record Journal. “They go to school for an education, not for sports.”
