Wallingford Police Department Gets First Female Lieutenant
Sgt. Cheryl Bradley was named the department's first female lieutenant on Monday.

Wallingford Chief of Police Douglas L. Dortenzio announced Monday that Sgt. Cheryl Bradley has been promoted to the rank of lieutenant, the first woman to hold that rank in the department's history.
"Lt. Bradley is a well respected veteran of the Wallingford Police Department with 15 1⁄2 years of service to the community," Dortenzio said in a release Monday.
Bradley joined the Wallingford Police Department in December 1997, and after her initial basic recruit training was assigned to the Patrol Division. In the fall of 1999 she was assigned to the Detective Division as an investigator. In September of 2010, she was promoted to the rank of sergeant and assigned to the Detective Division as a supervisor until being promoted today to the rank of lieutenant.

Lt. Bradley is the first woman in the history of the Wallingford Police Department to be promoted to the rank of lieutenant, according to the release.
Bradley holds a BS in Human Services from the University of Bridgeport. In 2011 she attended the Roger Williams University Justice System Training & Research Institute, where she completed the first line supervisor course.

She will be assigned to command one of the Patrol Division Units.
