A Touch of Frost, Blowing a Horn, Nighttime Roadwork, And The Bat Mobile
Five things to help you plan your day in Waterford on Thursday, September 5, 2013.

1. There's a 30 percent chance of showers today but most will likely occur in the morning. The day should become progressively sunnier, with a high temperature of 72 degrees, according to weather.com. Tonight should be clear and cool, with an overnight low of 48 degrees. There's even a possibility that some areas of the Northeast will see the first frost on Friday.
2. Nighttime roadwork continues at the Waterford/New London line along Bank Street and Colman Street, to name a few clogged arteries. The only night DOT crews won't be working will be Saturday. Avoid it if you can, drive carefully if you can't.
3. It's the second night of Rosh Hashanah. Here's how local temples are celebrating.
4. Waterford Police joined other law enforcement agencies across the country in a nationwide crackdown on drunk and distracted driving for Labor Day weekend. The enforcement efforts aren't over yet, however. State police have the BAT mobile on patrol starting tonight. It's not quite as cool as the caped crusader's vehicle but you don't want to be cooling your heels in it.
5. It's not too late to get tickets to the Homeless to Hopeful benefit dance this weekend. The gala will be held at Ocean Beach Park in New London on Saturday.
