Hazardous Materials in Waterford Basement Prompt Investigation

CT State Police and the DEEP were called to the scene after the materials could not be identified.

On Tuesday, April 12, at approximately 9:35 a.m., the Waterford Police Department responded to a Prindiville Avenue residence after receiving a report of possible hazardous materials.

Police responded to 13 Prindiville Ave. and located hazardous materials in the basement of the residence.

"Due to the material not being able to be positively identified, the Connecticut State Police Emergency Services Unit along with the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection agency were called to the scene to assist with identifying the substances that were located," Waterford Police Lt. Stephen Bellos said. "The area was cordoned off by police along with the Waterford Fire Service and is currently an active scene."
