'Organized Retail Theft' Operation Busted In Waterford: Police
Two men accused of being part of an operation targeting high-end merchandise were arrested in Waterford, according to state police.
WATERFORD, CT — Two men accused of being part of a organized retail theft operation were arrested. The operation involved "high-end shoplifting/larcenies at the various retail stores within the town of Waterford," according to state police.
Police were notified of a theft occurring at a commercial store at 900 Hartford Turnpike at 3:40 p.m. Monday.
Detectives spotted two people leaving the store with over $1,050 worth of merchandise and ignored police commands to stop.

Both men got into a vehicle and left the property.
Police followed the vehicle to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital in New London. Police said they caught both men without incident and recovered the stolen merchandise. Scott Bourgeois, 33, of Lebanon, and John Jones, 47, of Putnam, were arrested.

Bourgeois was charged with fourth-degree larceny.
Jones, who was driving the vehicle, was charged with fourth-degree larceny, second-degree reckless endangerment, and disobeying the signal of an officer.
Both were released on $25,000 bond and scheduled to appear in New London Superior Court on Dec. 18.
