WATERFORD--Waterford schools could be facing major cuts in state funding for the upcoming school year.

According to a report in The New London Day, Waterford is facing the highest cuts in the region for state funds.

The state legislators are due to vote on the state budget this week. On the table is nearly $1 million less than the current fiscal year's state funding for Waterford schools. The proposed state budget gives only $500,000 in Education Cost Sharing funds to Waterford public schools, The Day reports.
