Waterford-Based Cancer Center Expands Fundraising Audience
The hospital has raised more than half of its campaign goal in private donations.

L+M Hospitalβs new cancer center thatβs under construction in Waterford has passedΒ a few milestones, including raising more than $17 million in private donations.Β
During a βquiet phaseβ of fundraising the hospital appealed to corporate and private donors for support but now theyβre expanding their appeal to the public for the remaining $13 million.Β
Supporters of the center will be participating in public presentations and hosting informational meetings at their homes.

The cancer center, which is being built off exit 81 in Waterford, will provide treatment and services for cancer patients who would otherwise have to drive to New Haven or Boston. A report in The Day said, βitβs a unique affiliation with the Boston-based Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and will also provide services in partnership with Yale-New Haven Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital in Providence.βΒ
The ribbon cutting is planned for September and the center will take patients two weeks later.
