2 Men Inside Stolen Vehicle Arrested: West Hartford Police

The two suspects were taken into custody after a brief foot chase, police said. Both men were given $250,000 bonds.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — Two men traveling in a stolen motor vehicle were taken into custody on Thursday, according to police.

At 8:51 a.m., a stolen motor vehicle was spotted traveling south on New Park Avenue near Jefferson Avenue in West Hartford, police said.

The vehicle, a white Infinity G37 bearing CT registration AX23106, was reported stolen by the registered owner from Hartford, police said.

"West Hartford Police Officers attempted to stop the vehicle on Newington Road, however the operator failed to stop when signaled to do so," police said in a news release. "An officer was able to successfully deploy a tire deflation device on Newington Road near Sampson Street. The vehicle was not pursued, and was last seen traveling south on Newington Road into Newington, CT."

"Officers canvassed the area where the vehicle was last seen, and located it near the intersection of Willard Avenue and West Hill Road in Newington, CT," police added in a statement. "WHPD Officers located two occupants who fled from the vehicle, both of whom were taken into custody after a brief foot chase."

Carlos Deleon, 22, of Hartford and John Morales, 23, of Hartford, were taken into custody, police said.

Deleon and Morales are both charged with interfering with an officer, larceny of a motor vehicle second offense and second-degree larceny. Morales was additionally charged with engaging in pursuit.

Carlos and John were each held on $250,000.00 surety bonds pending arraignment, police said.
