Han Solo Beats Up Indiana Jones, West Hartford Town Council, Breakdancing Shakespeare and More

Here's what's going on in the week ahead.

Good morning, West Hartford! Today is Aug. 12, 2013; there are 141 days left in the year.

Hey, ever wonder who would win in a fight between Han Solo and Indiana Jones? Yeah, me too. However, my “friends” - if I can really call them that - always make the same two points whenever I pose the question to them, which is about once every two hours.

First, these “friends” say that neither Han Solo, nor Indiana Jones is real. Yeah. OK. Next you’re going to tell me that “Jaws” wasn’t a nature documentary about the dangers of swimming in the ocean lest a 25-foot great white shark devours you whole. Or that a Sharknado couldn’t happen in nature. Look I've seen them on TV. That stuff is real.

Second, and this is pathetic, people say that Indiana Jones and Han Solo are essentially the same dude. Really? Then how come Indiana Jones isn’t married to Princess Leia? Doy!

My money is on Han. After all, he made the Kessel Run in less than 12 parecs. Case and closed.

Why, yes, I really am married, why do you ask?

Here are five things for the week ahead:

1. The West Hartford Town Council meets Tuesday night at 6:30 p.m.

2. The Fun Fact Fluency Camp runs this week from Aug. 12 to the 15th at the Mathnasium.

3. People, we can all agree that breakdancing and Shakespeare, taken on their own mertis, are freakin’ awesome. But when you put the two together? Mind and blown.

4. The Hartford County 4-H Fair is taking place in Somers this week. Always a good time.

5. Bring a lawn chair or blanket to the Gazebo on Aug. 14 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to hear the Sphinx Shriners Band, the oldest continually formed Shriners Band in the world.
