[Photo Gallery] West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241 Grilling and Beer Tasting Festival

The West Hartford Firefighters Local 1241 held its 5th annual Firefighters' Grilling & Beer Tasting Festival on Friday in the Whole Foods parking lot.

The firefighters expected to raise $10,000 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, according to the event's co-chairman Bill Kall.

A DJ and the band Fat Grip provided the entertainment, as patrons were given 10 2 oz. beer samples for $12. Kall said that Whole Foods donated the space and all of the food, which the firefighters grilled.

All of the beer available for sampling is sold in the store, Kall said, so people who enjoyed a particular brand could purchase more if they chose to do so.

"It's a phenomenal night," said Kall, who co-chaired the event with Kevin Ingraham. 

Local 1241 also had a Pass the Boot event on Labor Day, which raised $15,000, bringing the firefighters close to their $25,000 goal to raise for MDA, Kall said.
