West Hartford Takes 'Pride Month' Seriously
On Monday, West Hartford community leaders raised a Pride Flag in town, with several 'Pride' events slated for the rest of June.

WEST HARTFORD, CT — While Pride Month is a national observance in support of the LGBTQ community, West Hartford celebrations have already started and they will continue all month long.
The West Hartford Pride Planning Committee has announced several events this month in the town celebrating Pride Month, which is June.
Festivities actually started Monday with the raising of the Pride Flag in town, and it all culminates with the sixth annual "West Hartford Pride Celebration" Saturday, June 21, from 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m.

This event is free and open to the public.
"Last year’s festival day was an incredible afternoon of joy and community, and we are pleased to announce that the festival will once again take place in the parking lot of West Hartford Town Hall," wrote event organizers in an announcement.

"This year, among other incredible talent, we will be welcoming host and headliner, from Ru Paul’s Drag Race, Heidi N Closet, as well as welcoming back crowd favorite Sister Funk, Carrie Ashton, Pride 247-365, DJ Romulus III, and more than two dozen drag performers."
The month-long series of events began June 2 at with a flag raising at Unity Green on South Main Street in West Hartford Center.
Other events are:
• Thursday, June 5, "Pride Kickoff Party," at New Park Brewing, 485 New Park Ave., West Hartford, at 6:30 p.m.
• Thursday, June 12, "Tracy's Pride Ride," at BiCiCo, 616 New Park Ave., West Hartford, at 6 p.m.
• Saturday, June 21, "Pride Rally and Festival" at West Hartford Town Hall, 50 S. Main St., West Hartford, 10:30 a.m. rally and a noontime festival.
"This rally is meant to spotlight what we are doing here in West Hartford and in the state of Connecticut to protect and embrace our community in the face of ever-restrictive legislation being passed across the country," wrote organizers.
