WEST HARTFORD, CT — The West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District and the West Hartford Office of Emergency Management, in partnership with the West Hartford Fire Department, recently announced the publication of a new "Guide for Residents with Access and Functional Needs."

This comprehensive guidebook offers vital emergency preparedness education and practical recommendations for various types of severe weather emergencies.

It specifically encourages residents with medical, physical, emotional, or behavioral disabilities, or those with transportation or language needs, to prepare proactively.

The guide's recommendations are tailored to support individuals who require additional assistance before, during, or after emergencies.

By taking their specific needs into account and preparing now, residents can significantly enhance their personal resilience.

This guidebook was developed as part of the new Medical Resiliency program at the West Hartford Office of Emergency Management.

Copies of the guidebook have been available since Monday, June 16, at the following locations: West Hartford Senior Centers (Bishop’s Corner and Elmwood), West Hartford Noah Webster Library, Town Hall- including in Social Services office, Emergency Management, and the West Hartford-Bloomfield Health District office in Bloomfield.

Digital copies may be downloaded from the Town of West Hartford webpages for Emergency Management and Health District, respectively.

The guidebook is actively being translated into Spanish, and an audio file will be available shortly.
