Obituary: John Masnato Sr., 77, formerly of West Haven
John worked in construction as an equipment operator for Handy's Septic Tank, Meriden Construction and Sirois and Gale for over 50 years.

WEST HAVEN, CT - (From Wallingford Funeral Home) On March 27, 2021, John Masnato, Sr., peacefully passed away at his Wallingford home. John was a resident of Wallingford for 60 years.
John was born in Bridgeport on January 4, 1938 to the late Helen (Fellegy) Masnato and Giovanni Paolo Masnato.
John grew up in West Haven and Meriden. He loved spending time as a teenager going to Savin Rock, Chick’s drive in and watching modified races at the West Haven Beach.

John also enjoyed going to the modified car races at the racetracks in Plainville and Riverside Park in Agawam, MA. John was an avid N.Y. Yankees fan and always watched their games on T.V.
John worked in the construction industry for over 50 years as an equipment operator at Handy’s Septic Tank in Wallingford, Meriden Construction in Meriden, and retiring in 2003 at Sirois and Gale Construction in West Hartford.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Marcia. He leaves behind a daughter Patricia and two sons, John Jr. (Rhonda) and David (Barbara).
John was also very proud of his grandson Michael and always found time to watch Michael play football and baseball.
John was known as “Big Papa” to Nick and Nathan Irish.
John’s family will receive relatives and friends in The Wallingford Funeral Home, 809 N. Main St. Ext., on Saturday, April 3rd, from 1 to 3 pm.
COVID precautions will be followed and masks required. Gifts in his memory may be sent to the American Heart Association.
