Redding voters have a big decision to make on Tuesday. First Selectman Natalie Ketcham is not seeking another term, so the electorate is tasked with choosing a new leader after 14 years.
Selectman Julia Pemberton (D) and Region 9 Board of Education member Chris Hocker (R) are battling for the right to be the next first selectman.
There is also a race for the Board of Selectmen between Michael Thompson (R) and Leon Karvelis (D). The top three vote-getting selectmen candidates will serve on the board, so there's a chance Hocker and Pemberton could both be on the board together with one as first selectman and the other as a selectman.
Voting will take place at the Redding Community Center from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m.
Redding also has other contested races across the ballot:
Treasurer: Frank Taylor (R) vs. Margaret "Peg" O'Donnell
Board of Education: Vote for any two: Jess Gaspar (R), Sara Sobel (D), Allyson Florkowski (R) and Edward Miller (D)
Board of Assessment Appeals: Vote for any two: Frederick Miller (R), Elizabeth S. Leonard (D) and Greg Stackpole (R)
Constables: Vote for any four: William Cook (R), Jane M. Ross (D), Leif R. Smith (Green Party), Gerald Sarnelli (R), Annett Bonfanti (D), Peter Bielawa (R) and Charles P. Mullaney (D).
