Daniel Sabella, 81, of Redding, Died Peacefully

He was a lifeguard at Calf Pasture Beach for several years and spent most of his career in Real Estate before retiring in 2008.

Daniel Sabella, 81 of Redding died peacefully at home on June 9th after a long illness. He is survived by his loving wife Betty of 44 years.

Dan was born on Long Island to Euricheta (Fannie) and Vincent Sabella and grew up in Norwalk. He graduated from Norwalk High School and attended the University of Alabama. Back in the day, he was a lifeguard at Calf Pasture Beach for several years and spent most of o his adult career in Real Estate before retiring in 2008.

Dan had a passion for golf. He loved to play golf, watch golf on TV and think about his next tee time when he wasn't playing. He had been a member of Oak Hills Golf Course; Silvermine Golf Club; Oronoque Golf Club; Norwalk Quartette Club and the South Norwalk Boat Club. He always lived life to the fullest.

He is survived by his children Karen Beres and her husband Joe of Redding; Michael Sabella of Litchfield; Scott Sabella and his wife Halina of Redding; stepchildren Karen Hansen of Redding; Christopher Hansen and his wife Jojee of Reno, NV; and Mark Hansen of Bethel. His grandchildren Allison Rahmlow; Maresa Sabella; Stephen Beres; Sophia Sabella; Hayley Hansen; Joseph Sabella; Walter Sabella; Tanner Hansen and Ethan Sabella. He is also survived by his sister Terry Lombardo of Norwalk and Florida and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son D. Kristopher Sabellla and siblings Mary; Joseph and Walter Sabella.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 13, 2016 at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church; 30 Church Street, Georgetown. Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Norwalk.

Friends will be received on Sunday, June 12, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Kane Funeral Home; 25 Catoonah Street, Ridgefield.
