Sen. Boucher Commends DMV Officials, Employees For Reduced Wait Times

From the Office of the Senator: State Senator Toni Boucher (R-26) today congratulated the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) and its employees on its announcement that customer wait time have been dramatically reduced.

“I was hopeful that the appointments of former Deputy Commissioner Michael Bzdyra to Commissioner and former Voya Financial COO Judeen Wrinn as Deputy Commissioner would bring about positive changes,” Sen. Boucher said. “I am glad that these steps were taken. Process reengineering is a best practice to increase efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service. It is employed regularly in business and should be conducted in all government agencies that are subject to growing bureaucracy and red tape, especially one that is so customer facing as the DMV. These steps are well over due and much welcomed.”

According to the chart in a press release from Governor Dannel P. Malloy, total average wait times at all DMV locations were reduced by 51 percent between November 2015 and November 2016. However, that chart also shows that the wait time as some offices still exceeds an hour.

“I understand some efficiency measures are still being rolled out. I look forward to hearing about reduced wait times at all DMV locations,” Sen. Boucher said. “Allowing customers to complete some transactions online is an added improvement and surely saves time and frustration.”

Sen. Boucher said she will continue to monitor the performance of DMV branches to ensure customers’ needs are being met.

Sen. Boucher represents the towns of Bethel, New Canaan, Redding, Ridgefield, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.
