To all town officials, hopefully attending the Board of Selectmen's Meeting on 5/2/2013:
This email is in substitute of my attendance at tonight's scheduled meeting. Unfortunately, work related conflicts prevent me from personally attending (this could actually be a blessing).
I simply want to state that I am VERY disappointed with the COMPLETE LACK of commitment on the Town of Weston's part regarding the resolution of the speeding / safety issues that plague Old Mill Road, a situation that has existed for easily 30 years!
There is no need for any of the above to continually "throw one another under the bus"! It is not the Police Department's fault, it is not the Selectmen's fault, it is not the town engineering department's fault, nor is it the Police Commision's fault...let me be clear...IT IS ALL OF THE ABOVE's combined fault for not doing their part and acting as a cohesive unit to resolve a situation that could very well wind up in a court room with a lawsuit because of some sort of a tragic accident on Old Mill Road!
I am not going to get into specifics as I believe one of the other neighbors that will be attending this evening's meeting will do so tonight.
One does not spend money, time, and materials building a foundation (to a house or any other edifice) without having the plans and means in place to complete the entire project. This is exactly what transpired thus far on Old Mill Road; there were a couple of meetings, there was money spent cutting down trees, and then what??? NOTHING, no plans, nothing for the past 8 months!
However, I will say that I am hopeful that after tonight's meeting there will be a scheduled, step by step, executable plan, complete with deadline dates, and a "next steps to follow" agenda to be strictly adhered to until this problem has been satisfactorily resolved.
I look forward to someday looking back on this issue as history.
Respectfully,
Walter T. Shanley, Jr.
