Bentley Luxury Car Reported Stolen In Westport: Police
The vehicle was later recovered by authorities in Elmhurst, New York.
WESTPORT, CT — A 2020 Bentley was reported stolen from a home in Westport on Sunday, and was later recovered in Elmhurst, New York, according to Westport police.
The incident began just before 3 p.m., when the owner of the Bentley saw the thieves steal the vehicle and called the police. The victim had left the vehicle running in the driveway and had gone inside the home.
"Westport Police observed the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed, but did not pursue," Lt. Eric Woods wrote in a statement. "The vehicle was outfitted with a tracking device and ultimately recovered in Elmhurst, NY by members of the NYPD. NYPD also made an arrest of two individuals who were in a different stolen vehicle, traveling with our stolen vehicle."

Information on the two arrested individuals was not immediately available.
"Although not confirmed, Westport PD has a working theory that the victim in this case may have been followed due to the value of his vehicle," Woods said.

Sunday's incident comes on the heels of an attempted burglary last week at a home near Compo Beach.
"Westport Police continue to implore individuals to lock their cars and homes," Woods said. "Be cognizant of your surroundings and report any suspicious behavior to Westport Police."
