Burglars Scared Off By Westport Homeowner: Police

The thieves fled the Compo Beach area home early Friday before stealing anything, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — An attempted burglary was reported at a home in the Compo Beach area early Friday, but Westport police said the intruders were scared off by the homeowner before stealing anything.

Police were alerted to the break in just before 4 a.m., when the homeowner called 911 to report that someone was breaking into their home.

"The Westport Police Department arrived quickly and identified a vehicle that was involved, but the vehicle fled and eluded police," Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods wrote in a statement. "At this time, the incident is under investigation, and it appears the thieves were confronted prior to stealing anything."
