First Selectman Marpe Issues Statement, Applauds Town's Efforts

First Selectman Jim Marpe issued a statement regarding the snow storm Tuesday morning.

Westport First Selectman Jim Marpe issued a statement regarding the snow storm this morning and thanking town residents and employees for their efforts.

“It appears that the worst of the snow storm has passed out of the Westport area,” Marpe said. “We are fortunate that the snowfall has been much less than anticipated and that there have been no electrical outages, minimal shoreline flooding, and no significant public safety emergencies.”

Marpe thanked Westport residents for heeding the town’s request to remain in-doors and off the roads, stating it has helped to expedite road clearing efforts and minimize traffic accidents. He asked for residents to remain off the roads for a few more hours for additional roads and parking lots to be cleared.
