The incident occurred last week at the TD Bank on Main Street, according to authorities.

WESTPORT, CT — A 51-year-old Bronx, New York man was arrested last week on a charge of third-degree identity theft, after Westport police said he tried to obtain a debit card from the TD Bank on Main Street by using fraudulent identification.

Edward Pacheco was arrested at the bank on Friday afternoon, after staff alerted police.

"Mr. Pacheco had allegedly attempted to obtain a debit card to an account that had previously been closed by using a fake driver’s license with the name on the closed account," wrote Westport Police Lt. Eric Woods in a statement.
