Upgraded Signs Installed On Route 1 In Westport: Sen. Haskell

State Senator Will Haskell (D-Westport) announced the state Department of Transportation is developing plans for the systematic replacement and/or installation of the ONE WAY, DO NOT ENTER, WRONG WAY and KEEP RIGHT signs along divided highways and one-way sections of highway at intersecting roadways in Bethel and Westport. These sign upgrades will provide significant safety improvements to keep Connecticut drivers safe. Sign design plans are expected to be complete at the end of the year with work continuing shortly after.

"This summer, a Westport mother of three lost her life in a tragic accident involving a wrong-way driver," said Sen. Haskell. "This terrible loss was part of a growing trend of wrong-way driving, and I believe it's critical to improve the signage that makes these accidents less likely. I'm hopeful that sign improvements in Bethel and Westport will keep drivers better informed and perhaps save lives in the future."
