Westport Firefighters Rescue Injured Person Trapped In Crashed Vehicle
The one-vehicle crash occurred early Sunday on I-95 in Westport, according to authorities.
WESTPORT, CT — An injured person trapped in a crashed car on I-95 in Westport early Sunday had to be extricated from the vehicle by firefighters, according to authorities.
The crash occurred at about 3:15 a.m. near exit 18 on I-95, and when firefighters arrived they found the heavily damaged vehicle on the side of the thruway.
"The vehicle was stabilized in place and crews used battery-operated rescue tools to remove the roof of the vehicle," wrote Westport Assistant Fire Chief Brian Meadows in a statement. "The occupant was extricated from the vehicle in under 10 minutes, and patient care and transport to the hospital were provided by [Westport Emergency Medical Service]."

Connecticut State Police and Westport police are investigating the crash.
