Westport Police Department Hires 2 New Officers
The two new officers were sworn in during a ceremony Monday at Westport Police Headquarters.

News release from the Westport Police Department:
WESTPORT, CT — On Monday, December 2, 2024 the Westport Police Department added two new officers to its ranks.
Officer Devonte Savage, age 30, comes to us from Bristol, CT and is a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Waterbury, CT with additional course work at Naugatuck Valley Community College.

Officer Savage is a certified Connecticut Police Officer and has worked for both Hartford PD and most recently Meriden Police Department. His most recent assignment with the Meriden Police Department was as a School Resource Officer.
Officer Handel Sam, age 30, comes to us from Bridgeport, CT, where he lives with his wife, Sara.

Officer Sam is a graduate of Central High School in Bridgeport, CT with additional course work at both Housatonic and Norwalk Community College. Prior to joining the police department, Officer Sam worked as a personal trainer at several local fitness centers.
Officer Sam will be attending the Milford Police Academy, where he will spend approximately 6 months of training before he graduates and returns to Westport Police for an additional 4 months of field training.
During the ceremony, Westport Police Chief Foti Koskinas congratulated and welcomed these new officers. He “thanked them for taking a chance on Westport PD.” He recognized that these officers had “several employment opportunities and chose Westport.”
