In Memory of Bruno Engl, 84, Longtime Wilton Resident

Mr. Engl lived in Wilton for many years and was the owner of the Foreign Car Service of Fairfield.

WILTON, CT — Bruno Engl, age 84, a longtime resident of Wilton, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 13, 2016 after a long illness. Bruno was born in Backnang, Germany on March 18, 1932 where he lived until he immigrated as a young man to Australia.

He eventually came to the United States in 1961 and opened his business, The Foreign Car Service of Fairfield. Bruno repaired and sold German cars, including Volkswagen, Audi and Porsche until he closed the business in the 1980’s. As a young man he enjoyed acting in community theater and had a bit part as a bartender in the movie Rachel, Rachel.

Bruno also enjoyed skiing, tennis, travel and wine. He was an avid wine collector and owned an extensive wine cellar, as well as an active member of the New Canaan YMCA for over 30 years where he enjoyed swimming, running and taking exercise classes with his friends.

Bruno is the beloved father of his daughter Traci Maraffi and her husband Matthew and the cherished grandfather of Luke Maraffi, William Maraffi and Mark Maraffi. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Eileen Fenton Engl. A Memorial service was held on Thursday, August 18, 2016.
