Wilton Police to Host Citizen's Police Academy

The goal of the program is to connect the community with the police department and to educate citizens on department policies and procedures

WILTON, CT — The Wilton Police Department will be hosting a Citizen Police Academy each Thursday night for 8 weeks starting on September 15, 2016. Classes will run each Thursday from 7 - 9:30 p.m. and will be held at Wilton Police headquarters, 240 Danbury Road, Wilton.

Participants will gain insight as to how the police department works and will gain valuable insight as to how the department provides services to the town. The goal of the program is to connect the community with the police department and to educate citizens on crime scene investigation, tasers, firearms, speed enforcement, the K9 unit, DUI policies and procedures and much more.

Applicants must be 18 years or older and live or work in Wilton.

  • Patrol Procedures
  • Detective Division
  • Specialty Units – ERT, SCUBA, etc.
  • Youth Crimes
  • Motor Vehicle Enforcement
  • Weapons
  • Law Enforcement Practical Skills
  • Technology in Law Enforcement
  • Many Others
