Windsor residents recently gained access to more of Windsor's natural landscape this month with the official opening of a $870,000 trail along the Connecticut River in Windsor Meadows State Park. The 10-wide paved pedestrian path meanders along the river for roughly 3,200, according to the town, starting at the Bissle Boat Launch and ending near Meadow Road. Intended to improve recreational opportunities for local joggers and walkers, the path's construction garnered regional attention and support when The trail's ability to attract outdoor enthusiasts outside of Windsor was touted as a factor with potential to contribute to the town's economic base. The state provided nearly $400,000 of the project's price tag in grant funds. According to the town, the land is owned by the state and Windsor will be responsible for the upkeep.
