Warriors Make Statement at Irv Black Invitational

The boys and girls recorded a slew of top-place finished at the Willowbrook Park meet in New Britain.

The 2012 regular season is shaping up to be the prelimnary stage of possibly another championship season for the Windsor High boys and girls track and field teams, .

Both teams made significant statements over the past couple of days at New Britain's Irv Black Invitational, competing in select races, but churning out top performances where they did compete.

As expected, star runners Sydnee Over and Medina Nabadduka impressed in their outings.

Nabadduka finished first in the 800-meter and 1600-meter runs with times of 2:15.41 and 5:04.30, respectively.

Over finished sixth in the 100-meter dash, but anchored the girls' squad to a No. 1 finish in the 4x100-meter relay.

The Warriors' Melissa Wolliston finished second in the 100-meter hurdles, and Astryd Lewis finished sixth.

The girls did not compete in the 4x400-meter relay.

Led by Daniel Jamieson, the boys turned out several top performances as well.

Jamieson finished first in the 100-meter dash, and the 200-meter dash.

Windsor's Brian Sappleton and Kahlin Bolden also turned out strong performances in the 100-meter dash, finishing third and fourth.

Ben Compton, who spung on to the Connecticut track and field scene during the indoor season, finished first in the shotput, while Kewncy Crittendon finished second in the triple jump.

The boys also recorded a top finish in the 4x100-meter relay, finishing first with a team of Kahlin Bolden, Sherrod Peay, Brian Sappleton and Daniel Jamieson.

Windsor's girls and boys indoor teams won the 2012 state title.
