ShawnaLee’s style is contemporary fine arts realism with a touch of impressionism. She loves to work with charcoals, oils, or watercolors. Her works have been lauded for capturing the heart and souls of her subjects. She accepts commissions and offers classes and workshops.
Each work on display is carefully selected for capturing historic moments in time, from a family lost to the horrors of the Holocaust, to the peace of our purring felines and wiggly pups. Included are portraits honoring John Baruc, the founder of the Westchester Horse Council, adorable children and jaw-dropping watercolor paintings of fruits and fauna.
Information about each work of art, its media and backstory, will accompany each portrait on view.
The Botanical watercolor paintings—so real looking they literally pop off the fibers of the paper, are master recreations gleaned from Early Renaissance illuminations. Each watercolor botanical was created as an online class demonstration example where ShawnaLee led a class through the process one brush stroke at a time. The class continues to today. What makes these botanicals truly outstanding is that the knowledge of fine arts portraiture translates beautifully into the process of creating the quality of luminosity typically reserved for the Renaissance masters. Throughout the centuries, artists recreate historical master works as a way of gaining a deeper understanding of knowledge.
